Carbon Reduction Plan for MyHomecare-Cheshire Services

MyHomecare-Cheshire is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2038 across all our operations, including our day activities, home care services and other care activities. We will adhere to best practice to reduce our carbon footprint and implement sustainable practices in line with national goals. We will continuously monitor and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions through the implementation of effective environmental management measures and sustainable business practices.

Emissions Goal

Reduction in emissions from carer vehicles, company-owned vehicles and hired transport (target is 7.5% per year for each of the next ten years).
Indirect emissions from purchased electricity at office locations (target is 7.5% per year for each of the next ten years).
All other indirect emissions for procurement, waste disposal, third party services (target is 7.5% per year for each of the next ten years).

Note: We will not report on emissions in terms of output of CO2 but will report in terms of usage that lead to output of emissions. We feel this will facilitate more accurate monitoring and reporting.

Actions

Energy Efficiency in Offices and Other Locations

Transition to 100% renewable energy sources across all offices and other locations.
Implement energy-saving measures such as smart thermostats, motion sensor lighting and use of energy-efficient appliances.
Engage our clients with information about energy conservation to encourage sustainable practices.

Sustainable Travel

Encourage telehealth consultations for clients and staff, where appropriate, to reduce travel.
Provide incentives for staff to use car-sharing schemes or low-emission vehicles for visits to clients.

Sustainable Procurement

Purchase products and services with a low environmental impact such as eco-friendly and energy-efficient products. Reduce the purchase of disposable materials and adopt reusable and recyclable materials.

Waste Management

Implement a comprehensive waste management reduction strategy that includes recycling programmes at the office, avoiding single-use products. Encourage staff and clients to implement recycling programmes in their own homes.

Project Plan

Conduct an environmental impact assessment for all MyHomecare services to establish areas for reduction in travel, energy consumption, and resource use.
Transition office locations to use of renewable energy sources, implement energy-saving practices and encourage sustainable behaviours among staff and clients.
Continuous monitoring and improvement of emissions reductions.

Monitoring, Measuring and Reporting

Emissions Monitoring: Emissions from travel, energy use and procurement activities will be tracked annually.
Annual Review: An annual review of emissions data will be conducted to compare against baseline and reporting year targets. Corrective measures will be taken where required, to ensure targets are being met.
Continuous Improvement: We will continuously explore new technologies and practices to further reduce our carbon footprint.
